MATIERE BEATS MOKAUITI. MATCH AT THE WEEK-END. . The Matiere cricket team visited Mokauiti on Sunday. Batting first Mokauiti scored 78 runs, the captain (Kinder) scoring 40. CRICKET MATCH AT CARDIFF. At Cardiff on. Tuesday the East cricket eleven beat the West by 17 runs in a two-innings match. East won the toss and batted first for 71 runs. West replied with 40 runs, In the second innings the East batsmen were dismissed for 15. and the West batsmen were all out for 23. ONGARUE ELEVEN BEATEN. MATCH WITH TAUMARUNUI TEAM. A new competition of one round only has been commenced by the Taumarunui Cricket Association. Five members of the Matiere club went, to Taumarunui to play for Ongarue in the first match against the .Railway team. Railway batted first to score 97 runs, G. Rutherford taking six wickets for 51 runs and J. Hearfield four for 36. Ongarue replied with 41 runs, seven being the highest individual score. O’Halloran, the Railway captain, took six wickets including the “hat trick.” Batting again Railway had scored 106 runs for seven wickets at the drawing of stumps.
