FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS. NO SEPARATE BRANCH. \ _____ ' A general meeting of the Waitara subbranch of the Returned Soldiers’ Association was held on Wednesday evening, Mr. I. G. Prichard presiding over 30 members of a total membership of 41. The deputation which recently met the New Plymouth branch with the request that Waitara be allocated a portion of the membership fees which it collected. ;; and a portion of the Poppy Day and. canteen money, reported the offer made. I t was decided that the tentative arrangement be accepted. Ah amendment that a separate branch be formed on the grounds that the interest of the returned men at Waitara in the movement would be quickened if there was a separate entity was defeated, and a further amendment that the ar- > rahgement be carried out for a year at any rate, subject to the New Plymouth , branch agreeing to a slight alteration in * the offer, was carried. The chairman reported that the cost of sending boys to Hock House had been considerably reduced and that the subsidy was now available to sons of all returned soldiers. He suggested that any ex-servicemen with sons of suitable age who proposed taking up farming should consider whether they should have this training. ; The arrangements for the annual reunion were completed. The chairman extended a welcome to new members present and expressed satisfaction at the manner in which the membership has grown during the past ftve ; years and at the enthusiasm shown by the large attendance.
