BIG TROTTING TEAM

Donald will patronise the Taranaki trotting circuit this season, where he contemplates racing six members of his team, reports the Christchurch Star. His representatives will probably be Blondie, Insolvent, Red Gold, Casino, Survivor and Plutus. They will appear at Manawatu, Wanganui, Hawera and Taranaki. Blondie has developed into a solid-looking gelding and is the star member of the team. He won three races on the same circuit last year, and when seen a t his owner’s place last week he left an impression that he had settled down. ’ Blondie always has been regarded as a fast horse and a game finisher, but the three accidents he had last year unnerved him for a while, but he has got over his unfortunate experiences and should be a profitable stake-earner from now on. Insolvent is troubled with unsoundness, but with the promise of soft tracks his trainer hopes' to keep him up to his work. 'The big grass courses on the Taranaki circuit will suit him. Red Gold is a speedy gelding, who has been beaten in several races because of lack of solidify. He is settling down with age and pacing experience, and he should do well Ol plutus is a. three-year-old full-brother +n Avernus. He is a good-looking gelding and is a nice pacer, but he is a delicate gelding, and though capable enough to win a race or two in his class, he will a vear or two to strengthen and go a distance. Survivor is the only trotter t the team. He is a deep-thinking customer but on his good days he can JS and he can stay, but he has to have everything to his liking. The other member is the four-yeai-old mare Casino, who disappointed her connections at Wellington. She has evidently thrown off the effects of'hei trip Ito Wellington.
