EGMONT HOCKEY CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The annual meeting of the Egmont Hockey Club was held at Hawera on Tuesday night, Mr. A. Stevens presiding over an attendance of 12 members. The annual report stated that two teams were entered in the "Wednesday competition, both upholding the club s name. Congratulations were extended to Manaia. Several leading players were lost through transfer. Messrs. L. Windle, R. Clarke and Thomson gained Taranaki representative honours and the club was well represented in the George and Doughty Cup and divisional matches. ■ Teams were entered in the King s Birthday seven-a-side tournament and in the Bennett and Sutton seven-a-side tournament. Congratulations were accorded the Hawera club upon its wins in the George and Doughty and Winter Cups. The social side was looked after.' The year ended with a credit balance. Five members were elected. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Mi-. G. R. Horsburgh; president, Mr. J. C. Woolliams; vice-presidents, four; secretary-treasurer, Mr. H. Horsburgh, S. • Brough, R. Clarke, Stevens. The opening day will be March 20. TENNIS AT MANAIA. RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS. Progress results of the Manaia Tennis Club’s competitions are:— Women’s championship semi-final: Mrs. A. Christie beat Miss H. Hobday 6—4, 3—6, 6—2. Men’s championship semi-final: F. Garner beat W. Armitage 6—4, 6—5. Women’s handicap singles:—Semifinals: Miss G. Hilles beat Mrs. F. Garner 65—55, Miss C. Lloyd beat Miss H. Hobday 65—59. Final: Miss Hilles beat Miss C. Lloyd 65—54.
