STRATFORD CLUB EVENTS.
FIRST HALF OF PROGRAMME.
Before a fair attendance of the public the first half of the club championship programme of the Stratford Swimming Club was held at the school baths last night. Although the events were for championships they were arranged on a handicap basis. Most events were decided outright, but the final of the senior men’s 220 yards and the balance of the championships will be held next Thursday. Details of last night’s results are:— Junior boys’ 50- yards: D. Turnbull (7s) 1, E. Cuff (8s) 2, M. Ryan (scr) 3. Junior girls’ 50 yards: O. Kermode (scr) 1.. Intermediate girls’ 50 yards: I. Kermode (3s) 1, P. Villers (scr) 2. ■ Intermediate boys’ 100 yards: R. White (10s) 1, Eagar (scr) 2, N. Turnbull (Is) 3. Senior women’s 50 yards: R. Black (2s) 1, S. Nowell (Is) 2, D. Pettigrew (scr) 3. Senior men’s 220 yards:—First heat: J. Ryan (8s) 1, Pettigrew (17s) 2, Girling (scr) 3. Second heat: Penman (9s) 1, Robson (scr) 2, F. Wickham (18s) 3. Junior boys’ dive: Turnbull 1, Cuff 2. Junior girls’ dive: O. Kermode 1. Intermediate boys’ 50 yards backstroke: R. Eagar (scr) 1, N. Turnbull (3s) 2. Intermediate girls’ dive: I. Kermode (two points) 1, P. Villers (scr) 2.
Senior women’s 50 yards breaststroke: L. Wickham (scr) 1, S. Nowell (3s) 2, R. Black (4s) 3.
Men’s 50 yards:—First heat: J. Ryan (ss) 1, T. J. Haughton (scr) 2, Wickham (7s) 3. Second heat: Pettigrew (7s) 1, Robson (2s) and Girling (3s) 2 equal. Final: Ryan 1, Pettigrew 2, Haughton 3. Intermediate boys’ dive: Eagar (eight points) 1, Turnbull (scr) 2, R. White (12 points) 3. Men’s 50 yards backstroke: Robson (4s) 1, J. Ryan (scr) 2, Pettigrew (8s) 3.
