Byrd and his wife Were reunited at Auckland to-day after a separation of nearly two years. Mrs. Byrd arrived by-the Mariposa, and her husband by train from Wellington. Although separated so long they had been in continual touch by means of wireless. They had a private code which, unlike the radio telephone, was a secret. ‘Whpn Rear-Admiral Byrd was living alone in his advanced hut in the far sduth his messages were sent to Little America and relayed from there. Mrs. Byrd expressed delight at being in New Zealand,, of whose beauty and friendliness her husband had often written. The Rear-Admiral and his wife will leave shortly for Dunedin.
