DEPARTMENT ACTION CRITICISED. UNPAID UNEMPLOYMENT TAXES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Ashburton, Last Night. David James Mclntyre was charged in the Magistrate’s Court Oh three counts, covering three years, of having failed to pay emergency tax deducted from his employees’ wages. The suift involved was £ll9 17s 9d. Mclntyre was told last year that proceedings which were pending would be stayed to see how he succeeded with the payments. The Magistrate, Mr. C. Counsel said the difficulty had arisen chiefly by reason of the defendant's financial position. Mclntyre was fined £7 10s and costs £1 IS on the first charge and ordered to come up for Sentence within 12 months if required on the other charges.
