MR. McLEOD VICE-PRESIDENT. 1936 CONTEST VENUE HELD OVER. By Telegraph—Press Association., Timaru, Last Night. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Brass Bands Association was held to-day. Mr. E. Palliser, Wellington, presided. The annual report said members had every reason to feel gratified with the record of achievement in the face of disturbed conditions. The financial position had improved and the total number of bands now affiliated was 85, divided into three grades, representing 2550 bandsmen. District contests had been held and proved very successful. The following officers were elected: Patron, held over; vice-patrons, Dr. H. T. J. Thacker (Christchurch) and Mr. H. D. Bennett (Wellington); president, Mr. E. Palliser (Wellington); vice-presidents, Messrs. R. B. Hean (Christchurch), T. Lindsay Buick, H. B. Burdekin (Wellington) and F. W. G. McLeod (New Plymouth); secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. G. Ashborne; trustees, president and secretary; auditors, Messrs. H. F. Allen and Son (Wellington); management committee, Messrs. P. McLachlan (Wellington), P. Patchett (Wellington), T. Goodall (Wellington), C. G. Baker (Timaru), A. G. Homer (Dunedin) and E. Bilcliffe (Christchurch). The president announced that applications for the control of the 1936 contest had been received from Wanganui, New Plymouth and Palmerston North. The matter was left in the hands of the - management committee to finalise.
