LATEST IN BETTING
The latest in betting facilities will be provided by the new automatic totalisator Which is to be installed at Riccarton for this year’s Grand National carnival. Among the innovations offered by the new “machine” is an important one from a bettors’ view-point—that investments will be made right up to the time of starting a race. At the present, time it is necessary to close the totailisator prior to the start of a race in order that the machine may be balanced. The new Riccarton totalisator will obviate the issue its own tickets. Right up to the time of starting barometers will indicate necessity for closing, and will print and the dividend being returned by each horse. The entire totalisator can be controlled by a single official.
