DUNEDIN MAN FINED £4O. SUNDAY WALK WITH POLICEMAN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Feb. 18. On four charges of laying totallsator odds John Joseph Lowery was fined £4O. “This is the first time I have heard ths suggestion that the path for betting has been greased by going to church,” commented the magistrate when counsel for Lowery contended that the constable with whom Lowery had made bets ' had ingratiated himself; ■ -with Lowery while they were on the way to early morning church.
