PERSONAL ITEMS. Mrs. Cox and family have returned to Nelson after an extended visit to Mr. J. H. Angerstein. Miss E. Lyon, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. Chas. Lyon. Mrs. Simpson, Miss T. Simpson and Mrs. F. Simpson, New Plymouth, have recently been the guests of Mrs. W. Moir. HAYMAKERS’ DANCE. RAWHITIROA DISTRICT NEWS. The haymakers’ dance in the Rawhitiroa hall was most enjoyable. Several competition dances were held during the evening and were won by the following: First Monte Carlo, Miss Ida Bleakley and Mr. I. Hewitt; second Monte Carlo, Miss D. Johnston and Mr. A. Weston; statue waltz, Miss D. Robinson and Mr. A. Baker. Dance music was played by Silver’s Sunbeams’ orchestra, with extras by Miss L. Gernhoeffer and Mr. F. Silver. Recent tennis ladder matches resulted in F. Silver beating R. Spencer 9—2 and L. Stretton beating A. Phillips 9-6. Mr. R. Silver spent several days at New Plymouth as the guest of his aunt, Mrs. B. H. Couchman. WAIPUKU DISTRICT. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mrs. J. O’Neill and family, Inglewood, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Ulhenburg, “Hilltop,” Mountain Road, for the Ulhenburg—Moosman wedding. Mrs. Bovey, Douglas, spent the weekend as the guest of her sister, Mrs. C. Busby, Croydon Road. Miss D. Martin ip spending a few days with Mrs. J. Fryday, Rutland Road. Miss Mary Fryday left on Wednesday morning for a holiday at Wellington. Mr. L. Fryday has returned to Waipuku after spending a few days at Auckland. • ■ Mr. and Mrs. Phelan and family, Wanganui, are staying with Mrs. Phelan’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ulhenburg, for the Ulhenburg—Moosman wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Sam. Jakes and family, Wellington, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jakes, senr., Waipuku. Mrs. Cook and her daughter Margaret are visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. H. Carey and family, Palmerston North, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. Ulhenburg for the Ulhenburg—Moosman wedding. Mr. and Mrs. H. Gush and family, formerly well-known residents of Tariki, have arrived to reside on Croydon Road, Waipuku. LOWGARTH FARMERS’ UNION. BUTTERFLY PARASITE RELEASED. A meeting of the Lowgarth branch of the Farmers’ Union was held on Tuesday evening. The soft turnip judging is to be held early in March. Candidates for the young ’ farmers’ week to be held at Feilding during May will be picked at a later date. It was also decided to give a subscription to the annual picnic, the date of which is to be arranged. The Agricultural Department forwarded a consignment of white butterfly parasites to Mr. A. Piper, who liberated them on several farms in the district. Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Johnson are on a holiday tour for a month.
