AID FOR CHURCH
ANGLICAN GARDEN PARTY. GATHERING AT ELTHAM. A garden party was held by the Eltham Anglican Church on Wednesday in the picturesque grounds of Mrs. Crump, King Edward Street. There was a good attendance, and although rain commenced to fall early in the afternoon the event was a success.
A treasure hunt and luncheon set competition were won by Mrs*J. C. Best, a tin of biscuits was won by Mrs. A. Schmidt and a croquet competition was won by Miss S. Camcross. Those in charge of the stalls and competitions were: Cake, Mesdames R. H. Glover and W. D. Hart; produce, Miss Coleman; fancy, Mrs. W. T. Gibb; ice cream and sweets, Miss A. Wilson; afternoon tea, Mesdames A. McWilliam and J. Campbell; croquet, Miss M. Pilkington; putting, Mesdames Higgins and Belcher; treasure hunt, Miss S. Camcross. , In the evening a dance was held in All Saints’ hall, where there was a large assemblage. Novelty dances were won by Mr. H. Dale and Miss Nowell, and Mr. Moller and Miss Nicholas. Silver’s Sunbeams’ orchestra played the music and extras were given by Messrs. L. Ware and W. Boddie and Miss Nicholas. Mr. D. May was master of ceremonies.
