OKOKE SCHOOL PICNIC
GENERAL AND PERSONAL NEWS. The Okoke annual school picnic was held at Kawaroa Park, New Plymouth last Wednesday. The change was appreciated by the young folk. Despite the crowd at the baths owing to the learn-to-swim sessions being held, the youngsters spent a considerable part of their time in the water. Owing to the increase of ragwort generally several farmers in the Okoke Valley are reducing their herds and increasing their flocks of sheep, as they consider sheep offer the only practical solution whereby the pest can be check’ ed and eradicated. Mrs. Roy Ekdahl and daughter are visiting Mrs. Ekdahl’s parents in Hawkes Bay. Miss H, Rush, who has been visiting Mrs. R. Ekdahl. has returned home. Mr. J. Jones is spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jones. Mr. and Mrs. E. Whittaker, snr., have returned from Palmerston North. Tire Okoke branch of the W.D.F.U. held its monthly meeting at the residence of Mrs. A. McKeown, Mrs. C. Whittaker, snr., presiding over a small attendance.
Mrs. M. E. Fraser has returned from a camping holiday at Tongaporutu.
