PRIMARY SCHOOL PICNIC
OUTING FOR CENTRAL CHILDREN. From a roll of 730 at the New Plymouth Central School 464 children wish to take part in the school picnic to be held at Stratford on Saturday, March 16. Failing suitable arrangements being made with the Railway Department, the date is fixed for Wednesday, March 13. Details were discussed last night at a special meeting of the school committee. There were present Messrs. F. A. Coleman (chairman), J. O. Turner, D. P. Evans, W. H. Huggett, F. C. Potter, A. Holder, E. W. Hodder and A. Feakins (honorary secretary). The children going to Stratford so far as is known will be 134 pupils from the infants’ department and 330 pupils from the senior school. Children who left school last year are join the excursion.
The picnic will be held at King Edward Park and the town clerk of Stratford will be informed of the excursion and asked to make arrangements for the supply of milk and hot water. The procuring of fruit and sweets was left in the hands of the secretary, Mr. Feakins. Among the children wishing to join with the excursion there we;: 78 unable to pay the entire fare. Special arrangements, it was stated, might have to be made in these cases. \
