ADDRESS AT WAITARA
GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. The Rev. J. L. Gray, 8.A., a missionary in India since 1921, delivered an interesting address entitled “Old India on a New Road,” at Knox Presbyterian Church, Waitara, last Friday night. There was a good attendance at the lecture, which was illustrated by means of lantern slides. Lord 6aden-Powell’S representative, Colonel Walton, who will probably be accompanied by Mrs. Walton, will visit Waitara on Tuesday evening and will inspect the Waitara group of Scouts and Cubs at the Scouts’ Hall. Other visitors will be Colonel Abbott, Auckland, and the Taranaki headquarters staff. After a stay of one hour at Waitara the party will leave for New Plymouth. Mr. C. H- Sampson left Waitara on Saturday to visit Timaru. Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Barnard have left for a motor tour in the South Island. Mr. C. M. Whyte, supervisor at the Waitara post office, has resumed his duties after spending his annual leave at Hawera. Mr. Whyte is acting postmaster I during Mr. Barnard’s absence. i Mr. A. J. L. Wills left on Monday 1 night for Auckland, where he will attend the five-yearly convention of the I New Zealand Society of Accountants. Mr. Wells is expected to return to Waitara I later in the week.
