SPEED AT ALTITUDE
MR. WILEY POST TESTS PLANE. CONTINENTAL FLIGHT PLANNED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. Los Angeles, Feb. 17. Mr. Wiley Post when testing his “stratosphere plane,” which is his worldfamous Winnie Mae, specially equipped for high altitude flying, reached a speed of 300 miles an hour to-day at an altitude of five miles. Within a few days, perhaps to-morrow, Mr. Post expects to start a cross-contin-ental non-stop flight to New York, maintaining an altitude of over five miles. He hopes to complete the journey in less than seven hours.
