HIGH SCHOOL JUBILEE

NEW PLYMOUTH GIRLS’ EVENT. ARRANGEMENTS WELL IN HAND. Organisation of the New Plymouth Girls’ High School jubilee to be held at Easter was discussed at a meeting of the committee last- night. Reports furnished by sub-committees showed that arrangements were already well in hand, considering the date of the jubilee. Miss E. Andrews presided over about 20 members. Circulars had already been sent to all old girls whose addresses were known, and broadcasting and advertising had been done, it was reported by the chairman. A second circular would be sent about the end of the month. “Arrangements for the celebrations have been going forward steadily since the first circular was sent last year,” Miss Andrews said. “Great interest has been shown by old girls in all parts of New Zealand, and everything points to a gathering at Easter that will be unique in interest. A treat is in store for old girls who have not yet seen ‘Scotlands’ and its gardens. It ranks as one of the show places of Taranaki.” Five hundred gilt souvenir badges had arrived. These would have a decade ribbon in a special colour attached. A souvenir booklet was in process of com-: pilation and would contain an account of the jubilee celebrations, special articles and photographs in addition to sketches and extracts reprinted from past copies of the school magazine. Sub-committees to deal with sports between present and old girls and with special decorations and to act as liaison officers with the Old Boys’ Association were set up. Arrangements for lighting, broadcasting, accommodation and other details were discussed.
