BELL BLOCK EVENTS
PERSONAL NEWS OF DISTRICT. The euchre party and dance held at Bell Block on Saturday evening to raise funds for St. Luke’s Church proved very successful. iSuchre under the supervision of Mr. G. Bracegirdle was played in the supper room, the winners being: Mrs. G. Bracegirdle 1, Mrs. C. Hoskin 2; Mr. Owen Hoskin 1, and Mr. H. Mills 2. Consolation prizes were awarded Miss Hoskin and Mr. N. Rundle. Dancing was enjoyed to music played by Messrs. Rowe (piano) and Watson (violin), with extras by Mrs. W. Hoskin. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr. R. Aitken and Miss Aitken. Messrs. R. Hoskin and C. Hoskin were masters of ceremonies. Supper was served under the supervision of the members of St. Luke’s Guild. Another euchre party and dance held by the Re-union Committee on Saturday evening was very successful. Messrs. L. J. Rundle and J. Bethell supervised the euchre playing in the supper-room, where nine tables were engaged. The prize-winners were: Miss Barclay 1, Mrs. Fabish 2; Mr. A. Sutton 1, and Mr. N. Rundle 2. Mr. F. Boulton played the music for the dances, with extras by Miss Nancy Parkin and Mr. L. W. Rowe, and a novelty mouth-organ extra by Mr. Taylor (Fitzroy). The master of ceremonies was Mr. Ray Hoskin. Supper was served under the supervision of Mrs. H. D. MacDonald. Mrs. A. Morton, Egmont Village, is the guest of Mrs. E. A. Huggins. Miss M. Blyde, Wanganui, is spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Aitken. Miss Molly Walbran, of the nursing staff of the Stratford hospital, has been spending a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walbran, Paraiti Road. Mrs. G. W. Bracegirdle left on Monday for Whakatane where she will be the guest of Mrs. B. MacMahon. Miss Peggy Walbran has returned from Auckland.
