DEATH OF ADMIRAL PATEY.
EXPERIENCE IN MANY OCEANS.

The death has occurred of Admiral Sir George Edwin Patey, at the age of 75 years. Sir George Edwin Patey v,. s the son of a naval officer and himself joined the Royal Navy in 1872. He served as a midchipman in the Shah during the engagement between that vessel and the Peruvian turret ship Huascar, and afterwards in the Zulu War of 1879. He was commander of H.M.S. Barfleur in the Mediterranean during the Cretan insurrection. Admiral Patey was commander Tin-chief of the Australian fleet in 1913 and served in the North American and West Indies stations during the Great War.
