POSTPONED REGATTA

SEASIDE GALA AT NGAMOTU. ARRANGEMENTS BY COMMITTEE. Arrangements for the New Year picnic, which on account of the weather had to be postponed until January 26, were discussed yesterday at a combined meeting of the Ngamotu Beach Picnic Committee and the New Plymouth Rowing Club executive. Mr. G. Roper presided. Most of the arrangements planned for New Year’s Day were confirmed without alteration. The committee refused an application from a sideshowman for permission to set up a sideshow. Three boats and five or six crews were being sent from Waitara by the Clifton Rowing Club, it was reported. The boats and the canoes would race along the foreshore to enable spectators to watch their progress more easily. It was possible that a trial of fishermen’s dinghies over a short distance might be arranged and also, if two Ships were in port, a race between crews from each.
