ACTIVITY AT THE PORT
SHIPS AT NEW PLYMOUTH THREE OVERSEAS; ONE COASTAL. GUANO CARGO TO BE BAGGED. MANY VISITORS SHOW INTEREST. The Port of New Plymouth will present a particularly busy scene to-day when labour will be required for three overseas vessels and one coastal tradei-. The Indien and Cambridge and the Breeze arrived yesterday and the Orangemoor is due to-day. The Cambridge and Indien arrived from Napier and Wellington respectively and berthed at the Newton King Wharf, where they were yesterday the subject of great interest to many Taumarunui and country visitors. The Orangemoor arrived at Auckland from Seychelles Island early in December with a large cargo of guano. However she did not commence discharge until this month. While at New Plymouth she will be berthed :/t the Moturoa wharf and she will discharge 3000 tons of her cargo. As 2000 tons of this amount has to be bagged at the wharfside the vessel will be in port for about a week. The Indien, a Danish chartered vessel, has a quantity of Pacific Coast general cargo to discharge before proceeding to South Island ports en route for Australia. The vessel is making her initial call at the port and is under charter to the Union Steam Ship Company. While at New Plymouth the oil-burn-ing ship Cambridge will load a quantity of refrigerated .cargo. She will probably Sall to-morrOw.
