QUIST IN FINE FORM
AUSTRALIAN TENNIS TOURNEY. STEFANI TROUNCES OPPONENT. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Rec. 11.45 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 3. Quist was in fine form when the Australian tennis championships were continued to-day. He defeated Walton, attacking on almost every point. Miss Stevenson gave a good display against Miss Round, the world’s greatest woman player, but a tendency to net her returns cost her points. Miss Round played mainly from the back court. Stefani had all his own way against Frankenburg, whom he virtually swept off the court. Results included:— ’ , Men’s Singles. Quist (Australia) defeated Walton (Australia), 6—l, 6—2, 6—3. Stefani (Italy) defeated Frankenburg (Australia), 6—1,» 6—l, 6—l. McGrath (Australia) defeated MacKenzie (Australia), 6—o, 6—4. Women’s Singles. Miss Round (Britain) defeated Mrs. Stevenson (Australia), 6—2, 6—3. J Mixed Doubles. Boussus (France) and Miss Bickerton defeated Vreland and Miss McCrae (Austria), 6—l, 6—3. Malcolm and Mrs. Malcolm (Australia) defeated Brugnon (France) and Miss Bellamy (Australia), 6r-4, B—6.
