Mrs. L. C. Sladden has left to spend a holiday at Dawson Falls. Mrs. M. Campbell left yesterday morning to visit Timaru. Mrs. J. S. Church was hostess at tea on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. C. P. Smith entertained at afternoon tea at her home on Tuesday. Mrs. Alex Strang entertained her friends at bridge last night. Mrs. G. E. Cartwright was hostess at afternoon tea yesterday. Mrs. S. G. Smith left on Wednesday to visit Wellington.

Mrs. E. Everiss entertained on Friday afternoon in honour of Mrs. J. Brash, who leaves shortly for Auckland. Miss Beere, Wellington, is visiting New Plymouth and is the guest of Miss Olive Firth.

Mrs. M. Cameron, who has been the guest of Miss J. Home, has returned to Wellington.

Mrs. France and Miss Patricia France arrived last night to spend a holiday at New Plymouth. Mrs. F. H. Chapman was hostess at a bridge party at her home on Tuesday night.

Miss Mildred Griffin has arrived from Eltham to spend the week-end at New Plymouth. Mrs. F. Kingsford, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. A. J. Rutherford, returned to Cambridge on Thursday. Miss Nancy Blundell arrived from Wellington last night to spend a holiday as the guest of Miss Margaret Fraser. Mrs. Oswald Beere, Miss Nancy Beere and Miss Whittem, Wellington, are visiting New Plymouth. Miss Hazel Ellis is expected to arrive from Napier at the week-end to spend a holiday as the guest of Miss Betty List. Miss Alison Coventry, who has been visiting Mrs. A. Griffiths, left yesterday on her return to Hamilton.

Miss Audrey Eberlet will arrive from Christchurch this evening to spend the vacation with her mother, Mrs. F. Eberlet.

Mrs. H. D. Thompson, who has been the guest of Mrs. A. M. Thompson for several weeks, returned to Wellington yesterday.

Miss Rata Day, Wellington, who has been visiting Hamilton, has arrived to spend a holiday as the guest of her mother, Mrs. R. Day. Mrs. J. H. Sheat was hostess at a bridge party on Wednesday night as a farewell to Miss B. Telford, who will leave next week for Christchurch. On Thursday night Miss Noeline Clark entertained her friends at a bridge party, when Misses J. Harvey and G. Griffith were the prize-winners. Mrs. P. E. Trevella, who is to leave soon to live at Invercargill, was visited on Thursday night by a surprise party of about 25 guests, who arrived to bid her farewell.

Miss Valerie Taylor, Tauranga, who has been spending several weeks at New Plymouth, was hostess at a bridge party at the home of Mrs. W. H. Freeman on Wednesday night. Miss 0. Mays, relieving assistant organiser of lhe New Plymouth Y.W.C.A. in the absence of Miss D. Bates, returned to Auckland yesterday evening, having completed her term at New Plymouth. Visitors staying at the Hotel Imperial during the week have included Mrs. Okey, senr., and Mrs. R. Okey, Whangamomona; Miss Brown, Wellington; Mrs. E. M. Laurie, Wellington; Mrs. Tabor, Auckland; Mrs. Dabinett, Auckland; Mrs. Harrison, Auckland; Mrs. McNab, Auckland; Miss Kinchella, Wellington. Among the visitors staying at the Hotel Criterion this week have been Mrs. A. Donald, Pahiatua; Miss M. Gillighan, Patea; W. B. McKenzie, Wellington; Mrs. F. A. Mays, relieving assistant organiser of the Y.W.C.A. Several bouquets were presented and three cheers were given as the train moved out. At the same time a group of small children carrying red gladioli and maidenhair fern rushed up but were too late to present their tribute.
