DESERT HERO TO MARRY
Notice was lately given at a London register office of the forthcoming marriage of the hero of a Palestine rising, Mr Frederick A. Partridge, to Mrs Louise Stern. In 1929, when Mr Partridge was Deputy Superintendent of Police for the Gaza and Beersheba area, a large body of Bedouins advanced towards Jerusalem to have revenge on the Jews. No militarv aid was available, so Mr Partridge took the desperate risk of entering the Bedouins’ camp in the desert to reason with the angry sheikhs. As a result a battle was prevented.
