MOST MURDERS
INDIAN PROVINCE’S DISTINCTION. 515 RECORDED IN 12 MONTHS. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Calcutta, Nov. 29. With 515 officially recorded murders last year, a substantial decrease on the previous year, the North-west Frontier Province is claimed by the Government as probably the most murderous area in the civilised world.
The province has an average of 260 murders to every 1,000,000 people compared with three in Britain. The Government recognises the seriousness of the problem and contends that the remedy lies in bringing about a change in the people’s mentality.
