RAILWAY BLOCKED
TORRENTIAL RAINFALL IN SOUTH. DAMAGE IN CROMWELL GORGE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Nov. 29. Half an hour’s torrential rain in Cromwell Gorge yesterday afternoon swept debris down the hillside on to the highway and the railway line, washing out sections of the road and rail- The thunderstorm burst over the district at four o’clock, 46 points of rain falling in half an hour. Traffic through the gorge was resumed this morning. The damage was confined to a half-mile section.
