REVOLT IN BOLIVIA
PRESIDENT CAPTURED GRAN CHACO ARMY’S COUP CAREFULLY LAID SCHEME CENSORSHIP AT LA PAZ By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. Washington, Noy.J.B. The sudden overturn of the Bouvian Government was disclosed here to-day. Advices received indicate that Senor Daniel Salamanca, the Bolivian President, has been arrested by troops on the Gran Chaco warfront, apparently as part of a carefully planned coup d’etat. The Vice-President, Senor Jose Luis Tejada Sorzano, is reported to have seized control of La Paz, the largest town and the commercial capital of Bolivia. Censorship is being strictly enforced at La Paz. Advices from there are in consequence brief and can not be confirmed. Senor Salamanca was apparently seized when he travelled to the Gran Chaco front in an effort to replace the com-mander-in-chief of the Bolivian army, who recently suffered severe reverses. The President-elect, Senor Tamayo, Senor Salamanca’s two daughters and the Minister of War are also believed to have been arrested.
