A suggestion that now the depression had gone the men of New Zealand should brighten themselves by wearing buttonholes of flowers was made by Mrs. Knox Gilmer at the opening of the Wellington Horticultural Society’s rose show. It was needless to say, she added, that all through recent years the women had been bright. “The habit of men wearing buttonholes will have my warmest support,” said the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop.
The Stradholme orchestra’s second concert for the 1934 season will be held in St. Mary’s Hall, New Plymouth, on December 10. The feature will be a festival cantata based on themes from the works of Bach and Handel. This will be sung by the Central School standard 6 choir.,
