FLOWERS AT PATEA

ST. GEORGE’S ANNUAL SHOW. STANDARD OF BLOOMS HIGH. Blooms of almost every hue and variety were exhibited at the St. George s Church annual flower show and bazaar at the Patea town hall on Tuesday. The standard of blooms was considered to be higher, although the entries were not so numerous, as in other years. The champion bloom was a blush pink rose exhibited by Mrs. W. Glenny. Mr. L. Austin’s entry, a rose of pure white, was awarded second place. Mrs. Fowler, Waverley, was judge. During the afternoon brisk busmess was done at the several stalls, and a concert programme was presented in the evening. The classification of exhibits, displays of stalls and the presentation of the concert items were capably handled and gave no hint that 15 of the workers had to be replaced at short notice on account of influenza.
