PRICE OF BUTTER
MOVEMENT TO CHECK •CUTTING. ’ GROCERS AND DAIRYMEN UNITE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Master grocers of Wellington decided in committee on Tuesday night to cooperate with the dairy industry, in an effort to eliminate price-cutting in butter. This decision was made at a meeting with representatives of farmers from the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Hawkes Bay and Taranaki districts. Mr. H. J. Barley, president of the Wellington Master Grocers’ Federation, occupied the chair. The text of the motion carried and today released for publication was as follows:—“That this large and representative meeting of master grocers held at Wellington is desirous of co-operating-with representatives of th© dairy industry to eliminate the present uneconomic system of marketing, and that a committee of master grocers be appointed to meet representatives of the dairy farmers with that object in view.”
