TOKAORA HALL TEA
SOCIAL EVENING TO RESIDENTS. A large gathering assembled in the Tokaora Hall recently to tender a kitchen tea and social evening to Miss N. Gadsby and Mr. L. Barr, Scott Road, on the occasion of their approaching marriage. Relatives and friends were present from all parts of the district and from Opunake, Kaponga, Matapu. Kapuni, Manaia and Hawera. Flag 500 was conducted in the card room by Mr. Thrush, while in the hall the young people danced to music by Mr. T. Pickering, with extras by Messrs M. Russell and O. McDonald. Mr. L. Julian was master of ceremonies. The older folk were treated to musical items by Hawera friends. Vocal solos were given by Mrs. Gannaway, Messrs L. A. Taylor, and S. Horsburgh, and vocal duets by Mrs. Gannaway and Mr. Taylor, and elocutionary items by Miss N. Kent and Mr. A. Lambourne. Accompaniments were played by Mrs. Taylor and Mrs. Bonetti.
Mr. Thrush, chairman, presented the guests with a collection of gifts on behalf of those present. Messrs Bennett, Tippetts and Wards (Okaiawa) also eulogised the good qualities of the guests. A bouquet and buttonhole made by Miss Batten were presented by Miss Patty Jordan. Mr, Barr responded,
