Auckland and the strathaird.
DELAY IN BERTHING EXPLAINED.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night.
The delay in berthing the liner Strathaird at the wharf on Friday was due to her lack of manoeuvring power with inturning propellers and the need of a powerful Second tug, stated the harbourmaster, Captain Sergeant, in a report presented at the meeting Of the Auckland Harbour Board. The report Was considered in committee and adopted, after which a member said he would like it to be made public that after the harbourmaster’s report had been considered it had been found that no blame was attachable tb the port authorities. There was nothing to hide at all. This view was shared by the Other members.
