BOWLING JUBILEE
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB DECISION. SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS MADE. Arrangements in connection with the jubilee of the Nev; Plymouth Bowling Club next March were discussed at a special meeting over which Mr. Franklin White presided. It was decided to hold an open tournament, to start on March 11, on similar lines to the Taranaki open tournament and under Taranaki centre conditions. Invitations would be extended to all centres outside Taranaki to send one rink, and particularly to the Auckland club, as probably the first inter-pro-vincial club games played in New Zealand were between the Auckland and New Plymouth clubs. The Mayor of New Plymouth will be invited to open the celebrations, which are expected to occupy a week. The initial gathering will take the form of a gala day on Saturday, March 9. The following committees were elected:— Tournament: Messrs. W. H. Freeman, F. Moore, J. Christoffel, E. Dingle, A. K. Smart, A. Boon, O. Cook. Entertainment: Messrs. T. Petty, O. Cook, J. R. Hill, J. Christoffel, F. Blundell, F. Hooker, W. P. Okey, T. J. Griffin. H. Gilmore-Smith, W. Taylor, C. Carter. Souvenir: Messrs. C. Carter, W. H. Skinner, M. Avery, H. Fookes, R. Cock. Publicity: Messrs. A. Martin, F. Mackay and M. Avery.
