WINDS OVER TABMAN
FORECAST PROVES CORRECT:
REPLY MADE TO YOUNG FLIERS.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney; Nov. 26.
The State meteorologist, Mr. Mares, protested against the comment made by Mr. R. Nichbll in reference to winds encountered during the Tasman crossing. Mr. Mares states that Nicholl’s' remark that “the wind Was in exactly the opposite direction from which we had been warned by the Weather bureau to expect them” was unwarranted. The fliers were informed that moderate westerly to south-westerly windswere to be expected, and the fact that the plane drifted to the northward proved that the winds must have been blowing approximately ii. the direction- forecast.
