MATAPU PLAYS FOR DRAW.

.MATCH AGAINST OKAIAWA.

A match was played between Matapu and Okaiawa Maori Cricket Club at the week-end and ah interesting match ended in a draw, Matapu succeeding in playing out time. Okaiawa batted first and, largely owing to a chanceless innings of 51 retired by D. Kara, made a total Of 124. Lobban for Matapu took six wickets for 33 runs off 18 overs, six of which were maidens. 'Die Matapu fielding showed a decided improvement on previous matches, keeping the score down considerably, while Bryant kept wickets excellently, only allowing eight byes to pass him. With only an hour to play Matapu batted solely with an eye to the time, and five wickets were down for 32 when stumps were drawn. Skipper and Kara bowled well for Okaiawa, taking thrde for 12 and two for six respectively. Bryant, 11, and Stark, 10, were top scorers for Matapu. Details are:—
