THE MOTOR OLYMPIA

STRIKING DISPLAY OF CARS.

NEW PLYMOUTH EXHIBITION.

The public of North Taranaki has at the present time a great opportunity of inspecting and closely comparing many of the latest models of the world’s leading motor-cars and trucks. The motor show now being presented by Messrs. L. H. Johnson Motors, Ltd., in their new upstairs showroom above their service station at the corner of Devon and Gover Streets, New Pylmouth, as well as in their regular showrooms, is the most ambitious exhibition ever undertaken at New Plymouth. Here under ideal conditions are assembled 23 of the most modern and beautiful models that the automobile industry has yet produced. The spacious upstairs showroom has been most effectively decorated for this special occasion, and all the latest methods of showing the most marked of the many modern and revolutionary improvements in these latest motor-cars are effectively employed. Of particular interest to every motorist or prospective buyer is the working model of the Oldsmobile knee-action independent front wheel suspension. This model shows as no other means yet employed the action of the “knees” under actual road conditions and indicates clearly the enormous increase in the riding comfort that must be obtained by this new method of front springing. Moving electric motologues help to emphasise the many new features of the various models in a new and entertaining manner. The models on view include many different types of the new Chevrolet, the sales leader of the world, the Oldsmobile, welcomed as the great style leader, the Buick with its enviable reputation in the field of high class cars, arid the new Vauxhall, which has now so firmly established itself as the English car for New Zealand. ' The weight comparison chart provides many surprises to those interested in the construction of the various wellknown modem cars, and most people are surprised to learn that the Chevrolet, usually referred to as a light car, actually weighs 30801 — considerably more than many of the more expensive cars, while the weight of the Oldsmobile, 3150 lb, is proof of the ruggedness and inbuilt strength of this popular car. On view is a Chevrolet car chassis which has been completely stripped and which illustrates in a most convincing manner the secret of Chevrolet’s long life and its ability to withstand the hardest of usage year in and year out. For those who wish to obtain the most economical motoring without sacrificing performance or comfort the 14 h.p. Vauxhall will have an instant appeal. With its beautiful and roomy body, syncromesh gears to make faulty gear changing impossible, its sparkling acceleration and superb hill climbing ability, its finger light steering, its beautifully resilient springing, and withal 30 miles to the gallon, the Vauxhall 14 will be the car of their choice. Of special interest will be the new three-four-tonner Bedford, which has just arrived in New Zealand. This model is entirely new to this country, but the strength of its construction with Bedford’s wonderful record of performance behind it will be such as to make instant appeal to every truck user. The motor show will continue every day and every evening until 10.30 on Friday night, and everyone is cordially invited to see this entertaining and interesting exhibition. Orchestral music is provided every evening, and a pleasant outing is assured.
