DISASTROUS VISIT
RED INDIANS AT CENTENARY.
RAIN CAUSES FINANCIAL LOSS.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.
Five American Red Indians returning from Melbourne to the United States are passengers by the Maunganui. which arrived here to-day. They stated they were engaged to take part in a wild Australian stampede during the centenary celebrations, but that this was ruined by rain and from a financial point of view had been disastrous to them.
They would have been put out of their hotel had not a young American interested himself in their predicament. However, stated one of the party, although he would not have five cents to board a tramcar when he arrived at San Francisco, the experience the trip afforded had been worth while, and he paid a high tribute to the reception given them by the Australians.
