WORK ON AIRPORTS
USE OF NO. 5 SCHEME LABOUR. PROTESTS FROM CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Protests were made to the Christchurch Unemployment Committee by the Unemployed Workers’ Association against the policy of using No. 5 scheme labour for work on airports and landing grounds. It was resolved to inform the Unemployment Board that in the opinion of the committee public works, including the formation of airports, should be paid for at standard rates by arrangement between the Public Works and Defence Dapartments and the board.
