MR. AND MRS. GARNER HONOURED. SUCCESS OF CRICKET PLAYERS. o A pleasant evening was held at Hurworth on Friday when the settlers gathered to farewell Mr. and Mrs. A. Garner, who are leaving to live at Taumarunui. The large attendance showed the popularity of the guests of the evening, many coming long distances to be present. Mr. H. Farmer voiced the regret of the people of the district in losing Mr. and Mrs. Gamer and presented them each with leather suit cases. Little Megan and Betty were presented with attache cases. Mrs. Baker on behalf of the Women’s Division presented Mrs. Garner with a brass fruit bowl. Mr. and Mrs, Garner suitably replied. Music for the evening was supplied by Mrs. W. Garner, and extras were played by Miss N. Gilbert and Mrs. F. King. Mr. Farmer was master of ceremonies. The Hurworth Cricket Club visited Hurford Road during the week-end to play a friendly game.
