12 INCHES OF RAIN IN ONE AREA.

Torrential rain has fallen over Central and Southern Queensland, causing flooded creeks in a number of districts. Storms in the Roma district yielded nearly four inches of rain in an hour, while in the Gladstone district 12 inches of rain was recorded in the after--11 Several houses were unroofed. Hail was piled up to a height of 18 inches and water was four feet over- the railway line between Dalby and Bell. Robert Roberts, aged 21, was washed off his horse and drowned when attempting to cross a swollen stream.
