SCHOOL JUBILEE
PRELIMINARY FUNDS RAISED.
GARDEN PARTY ON SATURDAY.
There. will be an acceptable addition to the funds of the jubilee Monday committee as the result of a garden party held at the West End school on Saturday afternoon. The flower beds in front of the school were looking well and were the subject of admiration by adult visitors.
Afternoon tea was served in the gymnasium and stalls, games and competition on the flat below were popular. Those in charge of stalls and competitions were: Afternoon tea, Mesdames A. H. Bailey and Thomson, Misses Carter, Cprkill, Adamson and Bailey; produce, Mesdames George and Evans; sweets and ice cream, Misses Main and Hoskin; jumble, Mesdames T. Roberts and S. Hoben; croquet, Mrs. Adamson; taipo, Mrs. Sole and Misses Royse; miniature golf, Mr. Capon; nail-driving, Mr. G. Gayton; stepping the chain, Mr. F. May. A radio service erected in the gymnasium by Mr.‘ Rimmington was appreciated. Competitions were won as follow:— Chain stepping, Mrs. Jury; taipo, Mr. K. Jones; ladder croquet, Mrs. Jarrett; trail croquet, Mrs. Jones; nail-driving, Mr. Jones' 1 team, Mr. F. May’s team second.
