Plaa (Czechoslovakia) defeated Maskell (Britain), 6-1. B—6. Nusslein (Germany) defeated Tilden (U.S.A.), 3—6, 6—l, 5—7, 6—2, 6—4. Vines defeated Barnes, B—6, 6—4, 9—7. Tilden defeated Plaa 7—5, 6—3, 6—3. Vines defeated Nusslein 4—6, 7—5, 6—3, 8-6.
Barnes defeated Maskell 6—3, 6—o, 8-6.
It was Tilden’s pace against Nusslein’s accurate placing. Nusslein’s favoured winning shot was a sliced backhand down the line.
