Mrs. R. S. Allen is visiting New Plymouth. Mrs. Hay, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. G. H. P. Fitzgerald. Mrs. G. Cooper has returned from a short visit to Wellington. Mrs. D. Syme was hostess at bridge on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Clifford Jones is spending a holiday at Russell. Miss B. Pease is the guest of Mrs. A. C. Pease, Mangatoki. Mrs. R. Belcher, Urenui, was the guest of Mrs. A. J. Belcher at the week-end. Hostesses at bridge during the week were Mrs. S. E. Carson, Mrs. A. Craig and Miss S. Carncross. Mrs. W. Langston was hostess at bridge on Wednesday afternoon. Those present were Lady Camcorss, Mrs. A. J. McPherson, Mrs. D. Syme, Mrs. Riddle, Mrs. R. H. Gover, Mrs. J. B. Brown, Miss A. Wilson, Miss D. Riddle. Mrs. A. Tiplady entertained a few friends at bridge on Tuesday afternoon. Those present were Lady Carncross, Mrs. Weir, Mrs. A. Craig, Mrs. Masson (Wanganui), Mrs. E. E. Carter, Mrs. J. L. Weir, Mrs. D. Syme, Miss S. Camcross. Mrs. J. L. Weir was hostess at bridge on Tuesday night. Those present were Mrs. R. Lee, Mrs. P. de Launay, Mrs. Hay Wellington), Mrs. G. H. P. Fitzgerald, Mrs. Masson (Wanganui), Mrs. A. Craig, Mrs. E. E. Carter, Mrs. S. E. Carson, Miss K. Butler, Miss M. Carter, Miss P. Lovell (Hawera). Prizes were won by Mrs. A. Craig and Miss K. Butler. ELTHAM TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY. A surprise party in honour of Miss Mona Blackstock was held at Eltham on Thursday on the occasion of her 21st birthday. During supper Miss Blackstock cut a cake which was decorated with 21 candles. Mr. L. Haycock spoke on behalf of those present, and congratulated Miss Blackstock, after which Mrs. Wood presented her with a bouquet of sweet peas. Mr. B. Edwards replied on behalf of the guest of honour. Items were contributed by Mr. L. Haycock, Mrs. Symmans, Miss P. Spencer and Miss Steele.
