Mi<« A. Hodge has returned from a short visit to New Plymouth. Mrs. R. Tyrer was at home to some friends on Monday afternoon.

Mrs. C. Marshall, Marton, is visiting her mother, Mrs. Petrie, senr. Miss A. Coyne, who has been staying with Mrs. A. Coyne, Bristol Road, Inglewood, has returned home.

Mrs. Evett, who has been staying with her sister, Mrs. H. Francis, has returned to Wanganui. Mrs. C. Ellis has returned from Fitzroy, where she was the guest of her mother, Mrs. Cole.

Mrs. Francis was “at home” to a few friends on Wednesday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames W. Shaw, B. Bellringer, Vincent and E. H. Eason and Miss Chadwick.

A jolly party was held at the home of Miss Daphne Mann on Thursday night. Some of those present were Misses C. Uniacke, N. Ennis, A. Hardy Jones, M. Whittle and P. Lovell.

A pleasant afternoon was spent last Thursday at Mrs. D. Anderson s home, Midhirst. Among those present were Mesdames Graham, Hunter, Fastier, Running, Faul, Whittaker and Hall and Misses Lawn and Carter.

Mrs. D. Malone entertained at a bridge afternoon on Tuesday. Among those present were Mesdames J. Lyons, J. Fredric, T. Urwin, J. Richards, G. Hall, T. King, r, Furrie, A. Coleman, S. Pitt, Macalister, J. Allen, W. Spence, Hunt, D. Steven, A. Hugo, R. Curtis, J. Cresswell, L. Jardine, F. Jeffries, N. Green, A. Budge, Hill, F. Uniacke, P. Harrison, A. Yamdley and E. Rutherfurd and Misses M. Porrit, E. Malone, M. Malone, J. Coleman and C. Uniacke.

An enjoyable evening Was spent at the mountain house on Tuesday, when a farewell dance was given in honour, of Mr. and Mrs. Haldane, who are leaving the mountain house. Items were given, and supper was served by the women. Some of those present were Mesdames Haldane, McMillan, T. Kirkwood, Crabbe, Simpson, Mclsaacs, O. Rowe, Kennedy, Misses M. Collins, P.
