DEMAND WEAKER
DAIRY PRODUCE AT LONDON.
SLIGHT FALL IN THE PRICE.
There was a further slight weakening in quotations for dairy produce received from London yesterday. The markets closed from steady to slow, dairy produce from all countries being affected by the slackening in prices. Quotations for New Zealand butter fell 2s during the week and Danish weakened by 4s. Cheese prices fell 2s for the Dominion product, but the Canadian quotations Were firm; A United Press cable states that the butter market is quiet and the cheese market slow and quotations are as follows:—Butter: Danish, 114 s; choicest salted New Zealand, 755; Australian, 73s to 745; unsalted. New Zealand, 76s to 775; Australian, 75s to 765. Cheese: New Zealand, coloured, 495; white, 50s; Australian coloured, 47s to 48s; white, 48s to 495.
Other quotations are:— . Mr. E. Griffiths (Messrs A. J. Mills and Co., Ltd.), last week’s figures in parentheses:—Butter: The market is slow. New Zealand, finest, 74s to 75s (76s to 775); New Zealand, firsts, 72s to 73s (755); Danish, 116 s (120 s f.0.b., 94s (98s). Australian, 73s to 74s (75s to 765). Cheese: The market is slow. New Zealand, white, 50s (525); New Zealand, coloured, 49s (51s); Canadian c.i.f., 52s to 53s (52s to 535). Newton King Ltd.—Prices for butter have fallen still more since last Friday and the market closes quietly steady. Salted, 73s to 75s (74s to 765, 775); unsalted, 74s to. 76s (last year 108 s). The cheese market has also fallen during the week and closes quiet. White, 49s 6d to 50s (52s to 52s 6d, 475); coloured, 49s to 49s 6d (51s-6d to 525, 465).
