WIN FOR PUNIWHAKAU. STRATHMORE TEAM DEFEATED. During the week-end a friendly cricket match between the neWly-formed cricket club and an eleven from Puniwhakau was played at Strathmore. The visiting team won. by the narrow margin of four runs, the scores being: Strathmore, first innings 86, second innings 55; Puniwhakau, first innings 90, second innings 55. The best score of the day was made by a young enthusiast, F. AllwOod (Strathmore), 40 not out. Although heavy rain passed over during the day, .play was not interfered with for long. The 'wicket became somewhat tricky. The newlyformed club have some promising players. Thanks were due to Mr. J. McCracken, who placed his paddock at the disposal of the club. The return match is to be played at Puniwhakau next week-end. CRICKET AT HUNTER ROAD. WIN FOR POWER BOARD TEAM. The Taranaki Power Board beat Hunter Road in a week-end cricket match, scoring 35 and 53 for four wickets to 25 and 40. Power Board’s best scores were D. Leathern’s 27, Terrill’s 16 and W. Hickey’s 15. The only double-figure scores reached for Hunter Road were L. Walker’s 18 and C. Brisco’s 14. Bourke and Leathern took good toll of the wickets, For Hunter Road Brisco bowled best. . ! WEDNESDAY COMPETITION. DRAW FOR SECOND ROUND. The draw for the second round of the Wednesday cricket competition is:— November 21: Nolantown v. Manaia, at Hawera; Hawera a bye. November 28: Hawera v. Manaia, at Hawera; Nolantown a bye. December 5: Hawera v. Nolantown, at Hawera; Manaia a bye. The position of teams at the conclusion of the first round is: Manaia 4, Hawera 2, Nolantown 0.
