SEASON CONCLUDED

PROFESSIONAL WOMEN’S CLUB. SECOND Y.W.C.A. ANNUAL DINNER. An attendance of over 50 members made the second annual dinner of the Business and Professional Women’s Round Table Clubs of the New Plymouth branch of the Y.W.C.A. a fitting conclusion to, a successful season yesterday. The toastmistress was Miss G. Peterson, and a short toast list was honoured before the principal speech of the evening, which was made by Miss E. Andrews. The toasts were: ‘The Guests,” proposed by Miss D. Devery, replied to by Miss D. N. Allan; “Round Table Clubs of the Dominion,” Miss I. Jasper, Miss D. Hogg; “The Amalgamated Y’s,” Miss M. Allen, Mr. J. H. Ledgerwood. An Outline of the work of the New Zealand delegation to the Pan-Pacific Conference of Women in 1934 was given by Miss Andrews, who was president of the delegation. Miss Andrews stressed the importance of the conference in the promotion of world peace. New Zealand enjoyed a splendid reputation at all the conferences that had so far been held, she said, and it was hoped that the venue of the conference would one year be New Zealand. The next conference would be in China, but the New Zealand delegation would endeavour to have the one following in the Dominion. Several Y.W.C.A. songs were sung, Miss Robbie playing the accompaniments.
