A feature of the second day’s play in the testimonial cricket match for W. M. Woodfull and W. H. Ponsford was Woodfull’s fine century made in partnership with Ponsford. He was given a great ovation by a crowd of 22,600. The attendance was large notwithstanding the unfavourable weather in the morning. The enthusiasm indicated the high esteem in which Woodfull, the retiring test captain playing in his last match in big cricket, is held. WoOdfull reached the century in 172 minutes. McCabe was unfortunately injured when he was struck on the hand by a ball from McCormick, breaking a small bone. He is not likely to play cricket as a result for two months.
