POVERTY SOCIAL SIN
PROBLEMS FACING CHURCH. CAPITALISM AND COMMUNISM. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10 p.m. Melbourne, Nov. 13. • Speaking at the Anglican Assembly, the. Bishop, of Goulbum, the Rt. Rev. E. H. Burgmann, said Communism and Capitalism were the two most vital problems’the Church faced. Poverty was the social sin against which the Christian conscience must stand in vigorous and relentless revolt.
"Only as poverty is reduced will a sense of security grow enabling us to reduce the danger of war,” said the bishop. "The Christian churches must face the task or else allow themselves to be pushed out of the stream of human history. “The Church must not identify itself with either Capitalism or Communism.”
