WAITARA RETURNED MEN
ENTERTAINMENT BY WOMENFOLK. Some months ago the members of the Waitara branch of the R.S.A. entertained their wives at a social evening. The womenfolk reciprocated by organising an evening last Monday at which the members were the guests. Forty-six attended and two hours were spent in flag five hundred. After supper Mr. J. Low on behalf of the members thanked the hostesses for the evening. Mr. Ivor Prichard in reply said they were always ready to assist in any of the gatherings of the association. After supper community singing was led by Mr. F. Silby and musical items rendered by Mrs. Gillespie, Mrs. Anderson, Mr. J. Low and Mr. H. West St. John’s Rose Show. St. John’s rose show, which will be held in St. John’s hall, Waitara, on Thursday and Friday, promises to be most successful. Entries are coming in freely and it is reported that the blooms to be shown are of an excellent standard, and if the weather holds record entries are expected. Mr. V. C. Davies, New Plymouth, has consented to judge the roses and cut flowers sections.
